Champions League Final 2024

Champions League Final 2024

The final of the Champions League in 2024 will be played at the largest English stadium, Wembley.

This will be the third time Wembley hosts the final, the first time since 2013; this will be the eighth final of the UEFA Champions League in different formats to be played in London. They played the previous two finals there in 2011 and 2013. Interestingly, this is Borussia Dortmund’s third place in the final and the second time they are in the final when it is played at Wembley.

The German team is chasing its second trophy in the competition.

They beat Juventus to win the previous trophy in 1997 in the final played in Munich. It is unnecessary to say much about the trophies of the Spanish and European giant Real Madrid. They won 14 in the Champions League, making them the best team in Europe. They won the last trophy two years ago when they beat Liverpool.

Real Madrid secured the Champions League final after a thrilling 2:1 victory over Bayern Munich, where Real Madrid overcame a 0:1 deficit in the second match of the semifinals.

Real Madrid are Champions League veterans, having secured their most recent title in 2022. They boast an unmatched 14 Champions League trophies, with a staggering five coming since 2014. That’s double the titles of their closest competitor, AC Milan (7). This season’s dominance extends beyond Europe, as Carlo Ancelotti’s team cruised to the La Liga title, already securing one trophy and setting their sights on a coveted double.

On the other hand, Dortmund, a team that has been a standard in European competitions for some time, finds itself in unfamiliar territory.

Despite their prowess, Dortmund last reached the Champions League final in 2013 and have not won the title since 1997. To add to their challenge, Real Madrid has a superior record in their head-to-head matches, with two consecutive wins and no losses against Dortmund in the last five meetings. The last time Dortmund emerged victorious against Real Madrid was during the 2013-14 Champions League. Overall, Madrid holds a record of 6 wins, 3 draws, and 5 losses against Dortmund. However, in the world of football, anything is possible, and Dortmund’s underdog status could be the catalyst for a thrilling upset in the final.

This match will be very special not only because it’s the final of the best football competition in the world but also because two great players and legends of this game will play their last match for these teams.

After more than 20 years spent in Borussia Dortmund, Marco Reus will play his last match for this team in London and have the opportunity to say goodbye to his only football, Borussia Dortmund love, in the best possible way with the most beautiful trophy.

Another German legend, Toni Kroos, will play his last match in his career for any club. After this match, he will play only for Germany in EURO 2024 and then retire. According to many, he can still give his best for football, but he feels that this is the time to retire, and he is doing it in style, as a champion of Spain and in a fight for two great trophies in the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid and at EURO 2024 with Germany.
