Jose Mourinho: The Return of the Special One – Trip to Turkey; News of Mourinho joining Fenerbahce began circulating a month ago when presidential candidate Aziz Yildirim was being proposed. Still, the current president, Ali Koc, made the same plan.

The key figure in the whole business is Mario Branko

the current sporting director of Fenerbahce and Mourinho’s compatriot. In the previous weeks, Branko had negotiated with Mourinho and finally reached a final agreement. He signed a two-year contract with an option for a third year.

Portuguese football expert Jose Mourinho (61) received a spectacular welcome at the Ulker Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey on Sunday, where he was presented as the new coach of Fenerbahce in front of thousands of enthusiastic fans.

The “Special One,” the Portuguese’s self-inflicted nickname from when he managed Chelsea, has been out of action since January when he was fired from Roma. The club held a ceremony to sign the contract with the trophy-winning Portuguese coach at the Fener Stadium in front of thousands of fans who cheered his name and sang fan songs.

Mourinho will replace the Turkish Ismail Kartal, with whom Fenerbahce parted ways last week after only one defeat in the championship last season.

The team was in an uncertain title race with Galatasaray, but six draws proved costly as their rivals finished first with three points more.

Having won trophies with Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, Mourinho will be tasked with helping Fenerbahce win their first league title since the 2013-14 season. Mourinho was the champion of Europe with Porto and Inter; on the bench of Manchester United, he won the Europa League and the Conference League with Roma. He won national championships in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain. Mourinho got his new job five months after being sacked by Roma, the ninth club he managed after Benfica, Leiria, Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, Chelsea again, Manchester United and Tottenham.

He was the first man to win the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League; now it’s his turn to conquer Turkey.

Mourinho is considered one of the best coaches today; he left a deep mark wherever he worked. Now, can Mourinho replicate his success as he did with Porto? Namely, Jose has not coached a “weaker club” since his stay at Dragao, and he had a huge success there, winning the Champions League and the Europa League in the two years he was on the Porto bench. Fenerbahce is playing in the Champions League qualifiers.

Also, Porto was four years without a title, and then Mourinho came to the club and restored it to the throne.

In that season, he won the domestic championship, the Portuguese Cup, and the Europa League. In the following season, he reached the Champions League in addition to the Portuguese League and thus achieved enormous success.

Many claim that Mourinho’s time has passed and his career is in crisis.

However, in retrospect, he led Roma to their first-ever European trophy, reached the Europa League with Manchester United and finished second in the Premier League, which he considers the greatest success of his career, considering the kind of team he had at that moment.

Of course, we remember his incredible success at Inter when he won the famous treble in the 2009/10 season. The only place where he did not win trophies was Tottenham.

The Turkish giant has been without a title for ten years, and they want to get it with all their might.

Mourinho is the right man for that; he knows how to deal with the stumbling giants and will surely make Fenerbahçe a champion again. The Special One pointed out that it will be difficult to enter the Champions League. If he plays in the Europa League, there is a high probability that he will reach the end because that is the Special One, and he should never be written off. We have an exciting season, which we will follow with great enjoyment.

Mourinho’s presence guarantees an exciting season for Fenerbahce and Turkish football as a whole.
