Is Mauricio Pochettino on the way out?
As the season is near the end, the London team is looking better and better. At one point their team looked so bad that Chelsea fans wondered where they would be without Cole Palmer.
Now nobody thinks about it anymore, now they have only one thing in mind – to reach Europe.Â
Four consecutive victories achieved in the beginning of May brought them to this situation. A rare case at Stamford Bridge since the change in ownership structure. In West London, apart from the financial aspect, there haven’t been too many reasons for optimism since the arrival of Todd Boehly as the head of the club. Last season they finished in the lower part of the table, the same scenario smiled on them this season. Thomas Tuchel didn’t manage, Graham Potter even less. It seemed that even Mauricio Pochettino would not succeed.
However, the narrative surrounding the Argentine specialist is slowly changing, in line with the results. There are more and more people who believe that Pochettino is the right man to lead a young team full of potential, but at the same time inexperienced, on the right path.Â
To make men out of very immature boys. Such a thing, however, takes time.
Especially when you work with the second youngest team in the Premier League, which is Chelsea’s current team (only Burnley’s is younger). Let’s remember the rest of the road that Mikel Arteta had to go through at the Emirates. In the first season in which he led the London team from start to finish, he finished in eighth place, the second as fifth, and only in the third season did he become a candidate for the title. Chelsea is still too far from the very top, but there are more and more indications that they are on the right track.
However, Chelsea’s fans and board are unhappy with the current situation at the club and the man who will pay the price of failure at the end of the season will most likely be Argentine specialist Pochettino.
The London club is currently in 6th place in the league, with 60 points. That was certainly not the plan of the new owner Todd Boehly, who spent over one billion euros on reinforcements since he came to the club from Stamford Bridge.
The London Blues are seriously interested in Bologna coach Thiago Motta, the problem is that teams from Italy such as Milan and Juventus, also want him in their ranks.
As reported by the media in Italy, Chelsea could terminate the contract with Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season. The London club will not qualify for the Champions League this year, and this is cited as a key reason for the dissatisfaction.
Also, Chelsea did not win a single trophy this year, although they brought in a large number of new players, who were supposed to strengthen the team from London.
