Napoli Collapse 2024

Heros-to-Zeros-

Napoli Collapse – The 2023/24 season is well underway with its football steps.

As always, someone has already paid their bills with “head”, and someone with glory. Some have already managed to live up to expectations, some have failed, and some have exceeded all initial predictions. One of those, who failed badly is the former Italian champion, Napoli.

They lost the title, and it seems that they will fail to join the international scene.

After a decade and a half of constant participation in the Champions League or the Europa League, Napoli risks being left without a UEFA ticket. Last year at this time in the south of Italy there was euphoria caused by good games and results in the championship season, while this one is so disappointing that it could easily end in collapse, which would mean closing the door to international competitions. So, why did Napoli collapse?

After a season to remember and celebrations that went around the world, Napoli was optimistic about the new season as well.

However, that did not happen. The entire season of the former champion is chaotic. Napoli offers arguments that they can attack, but it is bound to trip itself up and remain without precious points. That’s how Napoli lost points against much weaker teams this season which wasn’t the case last season.

Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri, Francesco Calcona.

Napoli was trying to find a coach who could at least partially compensate for the absence of Luciano Spalletti. If De Laurentis had picked at random in the lottery, he would not have chosen worse. The head coach of Slovakia arrived under Mount Vesuvius to improve the team and move it up on the table and has done nothing to show that he deserves to remain as coach in the next season. If the elimination from the Champions League by Barcelona can be forgiven, this is not the case with the setbacks against teams like Frosinone and Empoli.

The first man of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is by no means satisfied with the club this season, so he is ready to give up all the most important players at the end of the season.

According to Italian media, after Napoli lost any chance to play in the Champions League, De Laurentiis was full of anger and disappointment and is ready to sell all the best players, such as Viktor Osimhen, Kvicha Kvaratchelia, Stanislav Lobotka, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, but at an adequate price. Napoli this season has no resemblance to last year, and according to the Italian media, the problems in the club arose because of the too-long negotiations between the club and Osimhen on the continuation of cooperation, which allegedly divided the dressing room, so the club president does not want something like that to happen again, he wants all the dissatisfied to leave the club. De Laurentiis plans to bring Conte as a coach and charge him with the reinforcements of the club, and he will have a huge budget at his disposal if he succeeds in selling key players. Only Osimhen’s sale could bring about 120 million euros, which is the amount of his clause in the contract. Read more about Champion’s League and Serie A.
