ShortList for Ballon d’Or

ShortList for Ballon d'Or

Will the Euro and Copa América dictate the winner?

The era of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is over. The Argentine has eight and the Portuguese five Golden Balls, but now is the time for some new players to be the best in the world.

Choosing the best soccer player on the planet will be extremely exciting in the coming years.

Starting from this season, there are several candidates. Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, and Europe’s top scorer, Harry Kane, could be included in the narrowest circle.

In addition to the club scene’s performance, much will depend on the upcoming EURO and Copa America, as the rule for evaluating performance in the calendar year was finally changed.

The decision is made based on the impression that the player left the entire season.

We will find out the winner of the Ballon d’Or in October, and this year’s voting is particularly interesting because two teammates from Real Madrid are in serious competition: Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.

The Englishman convincingly won the award for the best young player in the world. Bellingham became the first Real Madrid player to win this prestigious award.

The Madrid club normally focused on bringing in established stars, which contributed to the fact that its young players are rarely in competition for such awards.

And he is on the right team if his goal is to win the Ballon d’Or.

The Brazilian was accurate in the final of the Champions League. Ten minutes before the end, a goal for 2:0 extinguished any hope of the Borussia Dortmund footballers that they could go to extra time.

Vinicius also contributed to more goals, scoring and assisting in very important matches for Real Madrid, which gives him an advantage.

If he can lead Brazil to the Copa America trophy, he will certainly be the number one favorite to win this prestigious award.

Of course, other players will have the opportunity to win votes thanks to the EURO in Germany. First of all, Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe is synonymous with breathtaking speed, impeccable skill, and incredible goal scoring power. The French sensation plies his trade with Paris Saint-Germain and consistently stands out for his club and the national team.

Mbappe had a great year in 2023, finishing third in the Ballon d’Or list.

However, after France lost to Argentina in the World Cup final, PSG failed to impact the Champions League significantly, and many started criticizing him. However, Mbappe’s performances in the big games make him worthy of this award.

He even scored an unforgettable hat-trick in the World Cup final and boasts over 200 career goals for PSG. With a consistent top-ten finish since 2017 and a career-best third in 2023, Mbappe is undoubtedly among the favorites for the Ballon d’Or.

If he can help France win the EURO, he could win his first Ballon d’Or.

Harry Kane, a name synonymous with old-fashioned classic strikers in the English Premier League, began a new chapter in his career when he moved to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023. Kane has long been regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, but he is missing a trophy in some major competitions.

He seemed to be on a mission to make his debut campaign in Bavaria memorable, but ultimately, he failed to win any trophy with the Bavarian giant.

It’s certainly a setback, but winning the EURO with England may change it.
